This
starts with Knargon Lanenda in the rogue guild. He responds to several
different questions about people and places. If you ask him about Jracol
he says 'I don't why [Carson] likes that guy ... he's certainly been
nothing but trouble for me.' Knargon Lanenda says 'Carson McCabe? He runs
that sham of a fortress called [Highpass Hold]. We've been dealing with
him for a few years, now. But, lately he seems to be losing control of his
business. [Hanns] will whip him into shape pretty soon though, I bet.'
(this is a bit of foreshadowing to the follow up quest to this).
Ask him "who is the courier" or "what is the
shipment": and he says 'We have a small shipment of goods coming in
later tonight. The [courier] will be waiting outside the city gates.
Casually tell the courier [Lovely night for a stroll], and give him this
old card as proof that you work for us. Make certain that you are not
followed, and return the shipment to me. You say, 'what courier' Knargon
Lanenda says 'The courier that usually runs [McCabe]'s shipment, is that
good for nothing J'Racol. I don't trust his kind. - When you ask Knargon
"what shipment" you get "an Old Bent Card".
Now, here's where it gets interesting, factionwise. The card is NOT no
drop. More importantly, the card is NOT lore. this means if you repeat the
phrase to Knargon you can fill backpacks full of these Old Bent Card quest
items.
Back to the quest: Jracol Brestiage is the Dark Elf with "good
guy" faction who hangs outside the north gate in the North Qeynos
zone. If you hang a right coming out of the north gate and follow the
wall, you should see him standing by the wall or by a tree close to the
zone. He is not always there and may be a nighttime only spawn. Say to
Jracol 'lovely night for a stroll' and he says 'Yes, it is a lovely night
for a walk, especially with a good friend. Tell me, are you a [friend]?
You say, 'i am a friend'. Jracol Brestiage says 'My memory is a bit fuzzy.
If you are a friend, prove it to me. Hand him the Old Bent Card. Jracol
Brestiage says 'Ah, good, it seems we have much in common after all. Take
this back to the Circle, before the city guards come nosing around over
here. Your faction standing with CarsonMcCabe, Highpass Guards, Merchants
of Highpass and CoalitionofTradeFolkIll get better. Your faction standing
with RingofScale gets worse.
Jracol gives back a "note to Knargon", which is also NOT no drop
and NOT lore. If you filled up a few packs with the old bent card, you can
just give them to Jracol 4 at a time, and it wont take very long to get
warmly with highpass merchants, so you can get top dollar for all that
fine steel you get fighting pickclaws in the early 30's. Your packs will
in turn be filled up with the same number of the "note to Knargon"
Head back to the rogue guild (*note: no zoning required to do this).
Hand the note to Knargon. Knargon Lanenda says 'Hmm. Carson better deal
with his little 'problem' soon, it's costing us a lot of money. Hanns is
gonna skin us all when he hears this. Go tell Hanns that [Carson has a
mole in the Highpass] guards, and see what he wants us to do. Your faction
standing with CircleOfUnseenHands, CorruptQeynosGuards and KaneBayle get
better and your faction standing with MerchantsofQeynos and GuardsofQeynos
get worse. You may not want to hand in all the notes with this adjustment,
but I believe the positive faction with Circle Of Unseen Hands is a much
larger increase than the decrease for the 2 that go down.
Knargon tells you to "Go tell Hanns that [Carson has a mole in the
Highpass] guards, and see what he wants us to do." Say to Hans, 'carson
has a mole in the highpass guards' and he says 'Arrgg, that Carson can't
control anything. Sometimes he's practically useless. Go tell Zannsin that
[I want him to send some of his men to Prak in Highpass], to help Carson
get back on track. Your faction standing with CircleOfUnseenHands gets
better. Yes just for saying the phrase. You can say this over and over to
get very high faction. As an aside, listening to the conversation between
Hans and Zannsin reveals that the spy is working for the spy is working
for the bandit leader in the Karanas named Rujahn Tahslek.
Say to Zannsin Resdinet, 'hanns wants you to send some of your men to prak
in highpass' and he says 'Hmm, I see. Maybe you can help us out with this
Jeskola, huh? I think it'd be a perfect opportunity for you to prove just
how valuable you are to our little organization. Take this letter to Prak
at Golden Rooster in Highpass, and see what you can do to help him out.
Prak asks you to kill Guard Stald and return with his badge as proof of
his death. He mentions that you will receive a "Cloak of the Unseen
Hands". Guard Stald spawns at either thefront gate, beside the
Tiger's Roar, or beside Top of the World. He is about level 15 or so. When
you bring him the badge, he gives you a note to return back to Qeynos.
Returning the note results in "A Black Leather Cloak", which is
all of AC 1, +2 dex and +2 agil, useable by all classes. There is probably
more to this quest that leads to a nicer item in the end, but this is all
I know.
